HOW THE ROMAN ANTICHRIST'S CHURCH CAME INTO BEING
But it is rather unfortunate that during the reign of Constantine, he prepared the way for the beginning of the introduction of Satan's teachings to fulfill the prophecy in DAN.7:25. After he had become Christian, he granted freedom of worship to the true worshippers of Christ to stop the martyrdom which preceded his turn as the emperor of the Roman Empire. According to World Book Encyclopedia, page 448, 3rd paragraph, 'Constantine in 312 AD defeated his major rival after having had a vision promising victory if he fought under the sign of the cross.
313 AD, Constantine and Licinius, emperor of the eastern provinces, granted Christians freedom of worship'. So in the year 321AD, history proves that Constantine brought Sunday worship into Christianity which has become the pivot of Christian worship eventill today.
Again when the church took over from the pagan emperor's to rule the world, did they also enact another law to confirm the changed day of worship from Saturday (7th Day) to Sunday (lst Day) in the year 538 AD during the third council of Orleans. Even though we are not dealing with the Sabbath matter now, let's hear what some of the Catholic leaders said in connection with the change of the Sabbath from seventh day of the week to the first day of the week.
"Sunday is a Catholic institution, and its claims to observance can be defined only on Catholic principles. From beginning to end of scripture there is not a single passage that warrants the transfer of the weekly public worship from the last day of the week to the first".-Catholic Press, Sydney, Australia,1900.
"The Catholic Church,.......... by virtue of her divine mission, changed the day from
Saturday to Sunday."-The Catholic Mirror, September 23, 1893. [The Mirror, a Baltimore-based Catholic weekly, was the official organ for Cardinal Gibbons].
You see fromthese claims from Catholic leaders, they are in search of Ecclesiastical power of command today, for in spite of God's directions, all roads lead to Rome instead of Jerusalem, where God's word of command should come from. This truly makes this old adage true: 'When in Rome,do what the Romans do.' Now with all these facts above it could be easily asserted that Satan's church through the beast power came to remove almost all the good doctrines of God and replaced them with CATHOLICISM. There is evidence from the World Book Encyclopedia that the Church of Rome of the early apostolic age, from which a politically acceptable anti-Jewish group eventually became the Catholic Church, was quite different from the Roman Catholic Church of today in terms of adherence to God's perfect commandments.
"The first 300 years. Catholics trace the beginnings of their church to Palestine, where Jesus preached, healed others, and was crucified. There, according to the Bible, after Christ rose from the dead, He told the apostles to preach the gospel to all peoples. In Jerusalem, the Holy Spirit came upon the apostles on what Catholics call the feast of Pentecost." Page 406, Article, The Early Church. (World Book Encyclopedia).
This means the good teachings from the model church in Judea, Jerusalem, (1 THESS. 2:14) were relegated to the background and replaced with Catholic doctrines thereby making them the Mother Church of all Apostate Churches, despite the claims from the Protestants that they are rather apostate churches. In spite of all the 95 Theses from Martin Luther and other protestant leaders, they still observe their mother's (Catholic) institution of Sunday worship and festivals like Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Valentine's Day and other Saints' Days. In a little Catholic work entitled Abridgment of Christian Doctrine, we read:
"Question.-By whom was it (the Sabbath) changed?" "Answer. - By the governors of the Church." Ques. ---How prove you that the church hath power to command feasts and holy days? Ans. --- By the very fact of changing the Sabbath into which Protestants allow of, and therefore they fondly contradict themselves by keeping Sunday strictly, and breaking most other feasts commanded by the church. Ques.-How prove you this? Ans. Because by keeping Sunday they acknowledge the church's power to ordain feasts, and to command them under sin." Page 57
In another Roman Catholic book, Keenan's Doctrinal Catechism, imprimatur Cardinal Mc-Closkey, we read:
"Question.-Have you any other way of proving that the church has power to institute festivals of precept?
Answer.-Had she not such power, she could not have done that in which all modem religionists agree with her --- she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday, the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday, the seventh day, a change for which there is no Scriptural authority." --- Page 174.
