GOD’S PROMISE TO ABRAHAM AND ITS SUBSEQUENT RESULTS

As already explained above, before Lot was saved out of that adulterous generation of his during the rain of fire, he took sides with God, because of the promise by God the faithful One, to his uncle Abraham.
In fact, the actual promise being spoken of was manifold to such an extent that, apart from Abraham’s direct descendants and relations, the whole world community was also to benefit from it, provided the deeds or conditions of that covenant could be adhered to.

(1) "Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: (2) And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: (3) And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. (4) So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Ha’ran.” GEN.12:1-4

It could be deduced from further study of the text in Genesis that the Lord magnifying Himself as the Lord of Lords, extended the promise to Abraham’s descendants at a time when Abraham had no child, in the passage below:

" And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him.” GEN.12:7

The promise came true, since Abraham and his close relatives went to enjoy the land of Canaan, before his descendants also possessed it forever. (JOSH. 21:43)

"And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.” GEN.12:5

But could you also believe that, before the descendants of Abram possessed the promised land to make sure the word of God is fully utilized or fulfilled, almost all the Israelites who started the Journey from their bondage in Egypt, were completely frustrated by Satan? Only Joshuah and Caleb (NUMB.14:30,38) were able to set their foot unto Canaan. Even Moses, the great Prophet of God, who had direct conversation with God since his initial call till his death, could not reach there. He only had the permission from God to view the Promised Land from a far distance, on top of a Mountain.

(48) And the Lord spake unto Moses that selfsame day, saying, (49) Get thee up into this mountain Abarim, unto mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is over against Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession.” DEUT.32:48,49

Oh, What a pity! Look at a whole man of God through whom God worked uncountable miracles after he had been chosen by the Almighty, forfeiting a whole promise of honour and glory because of unbelief on the part of his subjects that was orchestrated by this same arch-enemy of mankind.
According to a biblical report from EXOD. 12:37, those who started the journey with Moses and his brother Aaron, were about six hundred thousand (600,000) able bodied men, aged from twenty (20) years and above. In simple term the 600,000 men excluded women and children who could not go to war.
This wicked old serpent always thwarts people’s efforts to achieve success; just because he knows he has no more chance for repentance that would earn him some place in heaven again. So he made a lot of people on the wilderness sin against the Almighty God, through fornication, idolatry, stealing, Sabbath breaking and many more which time and space would not allow me to talk about.

(10) "Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness. (11) And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if man do, he shall even live in them. (12) Moreover also I gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them. (13) But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my Sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.” EZEK.20:10-13

You see that, all these multitudes of people, lost their lives in the wilderness due to the fact that they DESPISED the Oracles of God that could make them live continuously in order to possess the land.
